Abstract

The higher the life expectancy of the elderly in Indonesia, the higher the health problems of the elderly in the community, especially memory disorders and health services to the elderly will also be higher where health services must be done well and professionally in order to improve the standard of living of the elderly. Disorders of memory will be gradually tiered in senility. This type of research is descriptive which aims to describe the characteristics of the elderly with memory impairment at the Nursing Home Foundation Harapan Jaya Marelan Medan. The population is 41 people, with the sampling used is total sampling, that is all the elderly who live in the nursing home. The research data was taken by observing and interviewing. The results show that based on the characteristics of the majority of the ages 60-74 years, male sex, widower status, junior high school education, and employment as entrepreneurs found that respondents experienced mild memory impairment. prepare handwork facilities for those who like to make handwork in order to provide stimulus / stimulus to the brains of the elderly
